Υπάρχουν άνθρωποι που μιλάνε με μαντινάδες, άνθρωποι που μιλάνε με τον φωτογραφικό τους φακό, και άνθρωποι που χορεύουν με τα χέρια τους, και  επικοινωνούν με την σιωπή τους.

Ο Ρουσσέτος Παναγιωτάκης Γεννήθηκε στο Ηράκλειο το 1944
Το 1962 Αποφοίτησε από τη Μ. Εμπορική Ηρακλείου, μετά απο επιμονή του πατέρα του σε αντίθεση με την δική του επιλογή που ήθελε να γίνει ζωγράφος, αφού όμως μάς λέει μια ζωή θυμάται τον ευατό του να κρατάει ένα πινέλο.

Και έτσι το 1962-64 σπουδάζει ζωγραφική στα εργαστήρια Σαραφιανού στην Αθήνα.
1966-69: Σπουδάζει Γραφικές Τέχνες στον Αθηναϊκό Τεχνολογικό Όμιλο (Σχολές Δοξιάδη) με υποτροφία και δασκάλους τους Α. Τάσσο, Τ. Κατσουλίδη, Ηλία Δεκουλάκο, Π. Γράβαλο, Αγρανιώτη, Γεωργιάδη, Βασιλειάδη, Μαρίνα Λαμπράκη-Πλάκα, κ.ά.
Παράλληλα εργάζεται στο διαφημιστικό γραφείο «Αθηνά» (FIX) και αρχίζει την επαγγελματική του καριέρα με δασκάλους τους Γραφίστες Γ. Τζέκα, Μ. Περράκη, Α. Κεραμά και Γ. Ουζούνη. Ασχολείται με τη μεταξοτυπία στο ειδικό τμήμα εκτύπωσης του FIX.
1970: Εργάζεται στο διαφημιστικό γραφείο «ΜΙΝΩΣ» στην Αθήνα, όπου παίρνει και τη θέση του καλλιτεχνικού διευθυντή. Πολλές διαφημιστικές καμπάνιες βγαίνουν από τα χέρια του. Συνεργάζεται επίσης με το Studio ATA στα γραφιστικά.
Παράλληλα κάνει το κασέ στο περιοδικό ΤΑΧΥΔΡΟΜΟΣ στο συγκρότημα Λαμπράκη και συνεργάζεται με τους Ρούσσο - Καψή - Τζίμα κ.ά. Εργάζεται επίσης στην εφημερίδα «Σημερινά» για ένα χρόνο με Δ/ντή το Λυκούργο Κομίνη και συνεργάτες τους Λογοθέτη, Καλαμαρά κ.ά.
1973: Εργάζεται στο διαφημιστικό γραφείο Κ&Ο «Κουσέντος ΟΛΥΜΠΙΚ» με συνεργάτες τους Τέρκα, Δανά, Μιχελιδάκη.

1974: Ανοίγει το πρώτο freelance γραφείο στην Αθήνα, όπου συνεργάζεται με το φωτογράφο Ερρίκο Μηλιώρη τους γραφίστες Αριάν Παρίδη, Γιώργο Σεκόφσκυ, Σπύρο Ορνεράκη, Ελευθερία Βερονίκου, όπου και αναλαμβάνει διαφημιστικές καμπάνιες απ' όλα τα διαφημιστικά γραφεία, φωτογραφίσεις και έντυπα μόδας, καθώς επίσης και διακοσμήσεις περιπτέρων σε εκθέσεις.
1976: Δέχεται την πρόταση του Γιάννη Βόγλη και συνεργάζεται μαζί του στο διαφημιστικό γραφείο «RENDA» στην Θεσσαλονίκη. Αναλαμβάνει εκτός από έντυπα, καταχωρήσεις, αφίσσες κ.λπ. τη διακόσμηση πολλών περιπτέρων στη Δ.Ε.Θ. - Ρώσικο περίπτερο, STIEBEL ELTRON, Hellenic Stell, Ethyl Hellas κ.ά.
1978: Ανοίγει λιθογραφείο στη Θεσσαλονίκη και εκτυπώνει βιβλία, έντυπα, αφίσσες κ.ά. διαφημιστικά.

1981: Κατεβαίνει στην Κρήτη όπου συνεταιρίζεται με τους Αφους Καζανάκη, φέρνοντας το σύγχρονο τότε εξοπλισμό των λιθογραφείων. Εκπαιδεύει προσωπικό και έχει τον έλεγχο του δημιουργικού και τεχνικού τμήματος.
1982: Αφιερώνεται στο καθαρά δημιουργικό μέρος των Γραφικών Τεχνών σε χώρο που του παραχωρούν οι Γραφικές Τέχνες Γ. ΔΕΤΟΡΑΚΗΣ στη Βιομηχανική Περιοχή Ηρακλείου.
1991-93: Διδάσκει Γραφικές Τέχνες στα Ι.Ε.Κ. Ηρακλείου.
1992: Ιδρύει στο Ηράκλειο παράρτημα της σχολής Φωτογραφίας του Λυκούργου Σταυράκου και αναλαμβάνει τη Δ/νση.
1994: Ιδρύει Σχολή Γραφικών Τεχνών και διακόσμησης και συνεργάζεται με τα ιδιωτικά ΙΕΚ Nοrth College έχοντας τη Δ/νση του τμήματος διακόσμησης - γραφιστικής και φωτογραφίας.

1998: Εγκαταλείπει τις εφαρμοσμένες τέχνες και εγκαθίσταται στο πατρικό του χωριό Κερά Πεδιάδος Ν. Ηρακλείου, όπου και αφοσιώνεται στη ζωγραφική.
1983: Ιδρύει τον Πολιτιστικό Σύλλογο Κεράς Πεδιάδος. Εκλέγεται Πρόεδρος όπου και παραμένει μέχρι σήμερα.
1984-90: Γίνεται πρόεδρος του Οριακού Θεάτρου Νέων Κρήτης, συνεργάζεται με το Κρατικό Θέατρο Σερρών, σκηνογραφεί πολλά έργα και επιμελείται το έντυπο υλικό.

1990-2004: Κάνει εκπομπές σε τοπικούς ραδιοφωνικούς σταθμούς και Τ.V. με θέματα που αφορούν γενικά την Κρητική Λαογραφία κ.ά. Με το Μανόλη Ρασούλη κάνουν εκπομπές στο Ράδιο Κρήτη για θέματα πολιτιστικά. Συνεργάζεται επίσης για τις τηλεοπτικές εκπομπές του Γιώργου και Ηρώς Σγουράκη στην κρατική τηλεόραση (ΕΡΤ) και έχει την καλλιτεχνική επιμέλεια των τηλεοπτικών σειρών: 
«Εδώ γεννήθηκε η Ευρώπη», «Μονόγραμμα», τη «Γλώσσα μου έδωσαν Ελληνική...» κ.ά.

Συνεργάζεται με το Εμπορικό Επιμελητήριο Ηρακλείου και αναλαμβάνει τη διακόσμηση περιπτέρων σε διεθνείς εκθέσεις Παρίσι, Reims, Sial, Helsinki.

Ως καλλιτεχνικός Διευθυντής συνεργάζεται με τον πολιτιστικό φορέα «Αρχείο Κρήτης». Με τη Νομαρχία Ηρακλείου, την Αρχιεπισκοπή Κρήτης, το Ίδρυμα Τεχνολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης, το Δήμο Ηρακλείου και άλλους Δήμους της Κρήτης, όπου επιμελείται σήματα, περγαμηνές, εκδόσεις, μετάλλια κ.ά. Είναι σύμβουλος στα Πολιτιστικά της Νομαρχίας Ηρακλείου και του Δήμου Χερσονήσου.
Συμμετέχει ως Σύμβουλος και αναλαμβάνει Καλλιτεχνικός Διεθυντής του Πολιτιστικού φορέα «Μνήνη Κώστα Μουντάκη» και συμβάλλει στη δημιουργία του πρώτου αδριάντα λαϊκου δημουργού και λυράρη - της Κρήτης στο Δήμο Ρεθύμνης.
 2004: Τιμάται από τον Νομάρχη Δημ. Σαρρή για το έργο του «Ευρώπη» που κοσμεί την είσοδο της Νομαρχίας και γενικά για την προσφορά του στον πολιτισμό.

Από τις μεγάλες εικόνες αναπαραστάσεων τελετών και μυθικών  σκηνών, περνάει στη σύγχρονη εποχή με την σχεδίαση μαχών και ανθρώπων και τόπων.  Όταν δεν του επαρκεί η αποτύπωση ιστοριών και γνωστών προσφιλών του θεμάτων, θα καταφύγει σε πιο προσωπικές  οπτικές σε καθαρή ζωγραφική  και χρωματικές συνθέσεις.  

Η προσήλωση σε Ανθρώπους που είναι κοντά του,  φαίνεται σε πορτραίτα και σύνολα. πιστεύει ακόμα στον άνθρωπο, εμπνέεται απο αυτόν, θέλει και το δείχνει μέσα απο τα έργα του ότι ονειρεύεται έναν άλλο άνθρωπο, που να είναι πιο κοντά στον θεό, στον μύθο, στο όνειρο.

Μόνο αν φτιάξουμε τον μύθο μας θα καταλάβουμε τους μύθους, μόνο όταν βρεθούμε στο κλειδωμένο ντουλάπι της καθημερινότητας θα κατανοήσουμε το όνειρο των χρωμάτων και των ήχων απο τις δικές μας λεζάντες που θα θελήσουμε να βάλουμε στις πινελιές του Ρουσσέτου.
Αλλωστε τα έργα του είναι ένα συνεχές ταξίδι ανάμεσα στον μύθο στο όνειρο και στην πραγματικότητα.
Χρώματα και πίνακες που δεν ταιριάζουν με τα χρώματα των τοίχων των σπιτιών μας αλλά με τα χρώματα των βιωμάτων μας ή και των προσδοκιών μας πρέπει να μας υπενθυμίζουν τα καδραρισμένα έργα στον χώρο μας... ότι όλα έχουν την αξία τους, όλα είναι ίδια αν δεν τ αγαπάς ότι όλα γίνονται αλλιώς μέσα απο την δική μας την ματιά που λέει και ένας στίχος ερμηνευμένος απο τον Ορφέα Περίδη αλλά πάνω οτι όλα... όλα, απο κάπου γεννήθηκαν

Εχω αναφερθεί και στο παρελθόν για την εκτίμηση μου στο πρόσωπο του Ρουσσέτου Παναγιωτάκη σαν άνθρωπο, σαν καλλιτέχνη, αλλά και σαν στοχαστή απλών πραγμάτων που χάνονται και ο Ρουσσέτος ξέρει ή με το μολύβι του και το πινέλο του... ή ... με το ήσυχο πείσμα του να σου δείχνει, να σου υπενθυμίζει, να σου μαθαίνει, και να σου μεταδίδει.
Ο Ρουσσέτος εχει συλλέξει εμπειρίες από την ενασχόληση με διάφορες μορφές τέχνης. έχει δώσει την ψυχή του για το θέατρο, τις γραφικές τέχνες, που υπήρξε πρωτομάστορας της ελληνικής τηλεόρασης και σήμερα έχει απομακρυνθεί από όλους και όλα για να αφιερωθεί στη μεγαλύτερη του αγάπη, τη ζωγραφική.

Στον χώρο που θεωρεί καταφύγιο και εργαλείο της δουλείας του, στο Ατελιέ του ήταν το πρώτο σημείο ξενάγησης και απλόχερης διήγησης, μια πέτρινη οικία με μια τεράστια καμάρα να χωρίζει τον χώρο διακριτικά στα δύο, πίνακες κρεμασμένοι στους τοίχους, αλλά και στιβαγμένοι ο ένας δίπλα στον άλλο, πινέλα, χρώματα, συλλεκτικά αντικείμενα, μπαστούνες και ένα καζάνι της ρακής που την τιμήσαμε δεόντως πιο βράδυ.
Κάθε ζωγραφιά, κάθε έργο, κάθε αποτύπωση, κάθε εικόνα, κάθε πίνακας του Ρουσσέτου ,κρύβει περισσότερα λόγια απο τις πινελιές του.
Πίνακες που διδάσκουν, έργα που δηλώνουν την ψυχική κατάσταση του καλλιτέχνη, αφορμές και κεντρίσματα που αποτυπώνονται σε ένα σκέτο χαρτί που παίρνει ήχους και μιλιά, φτάνει να έχεις ανοιχτά αυτιά να ακούσεις τι βλέπεις.
Μηνύματα, επηρεασμένη όμως πάντα από το μινωικό πολιτισμό. Μπορεί να μη λέει τίποτα αυτό σαν εικόνα αλλά όμως η βάση του υπάρχει πάντα από κάτι, είναι μέσα στη φιλοσοφία και το πνεύμα της κρητικής διοίκησης των πρώτων χρόνων.

Γιατί γυρνάμε τις πλάτες μας σε Ανθρώπους που είναι ένα τμήμα της πολιτιστικής μας ιστορίας...
Γιατί δεν εκτιμάμε όλα αυτά που έχουν ήθος, ποιότητα, συνέχεια και κουλτούρα...
Γιατί δεν ακούν τα λόγια που εκπέμπουν τα έργα - εικόνες του Ρουσσέτου Παναγιωτάκη οι αρμόδιοι - αναρμόδιοι δίνοντας την ευκαιρία στον καλλιτέχνη να διδάξει μέσα απο κάθε σπίτι, με έργα που θα κοσμούν ένα τοίχο , το παρελθόν μας που με τον τρόπο του Ρουσσέτου μας δίνει μυνήματα για το μέλλον μας...
Γιατί ίσως να μην διδάσκονται στα σχολεία, όχι τα χρώματα και οι τελικές διαμορφωμένες εικόνες αλλά οι λεζάντες των έργων, οι αφορμές της δημιουργίας,

Πρέπει να ξέρεις πού πατάς, από πού κρατάει η σκούφια σου, που λέμε. 
Οσο μεγαλύτερος είναι ο ορίζοντας προς τα πίσω, όσο μεγαλύτερη είναι η γνώση προς τα πίσω, τόσο οι πιθανότητες να πάμε μπροστά είναι περισσότερες”
